About this deal

venue, if you wish to join us for a glass of wine, it’s advisable to book in advance, particularly on Friday and Saturday evenings.

Time-honoured skills, craftsmanship and dedication are handed down from generation to generation in the form of three unique arts – the art of blending, the art of cooperage and the art of ageing – to produce our extraordinary selection of Tawny Ports. This is a 30 year tawny and 30 refers to the designated age, as it is a blend of more than one year the vintage does not appear on the bottle. There is rarely universal agreement on the quality of the wine produced from a given year, and in some years a single producer may be alone in declaring a vintage. To age and blend old wines like these is an extremely challenging exercise requiring great skill and years of experience.

Tawny port is aged in wooden barrels, exposing it to gradual oxidation and evaporation, causing its colour to mellow to a golden-brown after roughly ten years ""in wood. Graham's was founded in 1820 and through the 19th century went from strength to strength, attaining an unparalleled standing as a producer of fine Vintage Ports.Graham’s 30 Year Old Tawny Port is an amber-coloured fortified port wine with the characteristic aromas of long aging, like nuts and ripe fruits. It was also one of the first Port house to invest in its own vineyards and is now at the cutting edge of innovation in winemaking techniques. Using the extensive knowledge of the Douro Valley gained over the previous seventy years, the Grahams chose an ideal place to plant a vineyard; an excellent south-facing aspect, fine soil composition, good gradients that facilitate drainage and a perfectly sited ridge on which they built one of the finest of all the DouroÂ's great estate houses. Aged tawny port is a blend of several vintages, with the average years ""in wood"" stated on the label: 10, 15, 20, and 30 years are common. The wine's contact with the wood of the cask works hand-in-hand with time to create one of the world's greatest wines.

Graham’s Port is a legendary Port winery that has gained an amazing international reputation over almost two centuries of history, and this is down to the quality of their fortified wines that are made with the utmost care and using artisan methods to preserve and enhance their qualities.

Not every year is declared a vintage in the Douro, only those when conditions are favourable to particularly flavourful crops of grapes.

This fortification method is still followed here, when wines are exported to other countries like England from Oporto. Light, orange-tinted amber colour, magnificent perfumed nose with great class showing an array of dried fruits. Since then Malvedos has been recognized as one of the Douro ValleyÂ's finest Â'river Quintas,Â' and the quality of the wines from the vineyard continues to be fundamental to GrahamÂ's reputation as a leading producer of quite exceptional Vintage Port.

While it is by far the most renowned type of port, from a volume and revenue standpoint vintage port actually makes up a small percentage of the production of a typical port house. The Instituto dos Vinhos do Douro e Porto (IVDP or Port and Douro Wine Institute) regulates the Port industry in Portugal. Graham’s 30 Year Old Tawny Port is a fortified Port wine made with the Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca varieties produced by Graham’s Port, in the Douro Valley, Portugal.
